PIPESTRESS - Buried piping

The soil is modeled as a Winkler foundation. Discrete springs are automatically generated at regular intervals along the piping in the horizontal and vertical directions.

The springs can be either elastic (as per ASME B31.1 Appendix VII) or elastic-plastic (as per ASCE code).

The spring properties can be changed easily along the piping to take into account heterogeneous soil conditions or variable trench depths.

Moreover, different soil stiffness and resistance may be specified in the upwards and downwards directions.

The friction forces at the Soil/Pipe interface are automatically generated thus there is no need for the user to define virtual anchors.
